Busy Bees Childcare has been providing childcare to families since 1983 and are one of the largest and longest-established childcare providers in the UK.
Busy Bees focus their recruitment on school leavers, and promote their apprenticeship programmes at careers fairs. Developing partnerships with schools, colleges and working with job centres and charities have made them the successful business they are today.
Through their staff learning and development programme, Busy Bees apprentices are offered a combination of on-the-job training and short courses. This mixed approach gives apprentices the opportunity to expand their knowledge outside the apprenticeship programme, as well as progress into specialist roles or business management positions.
Every one of Busy Bees’ apprentices has gone on to full time employment within Busy Bees nurseries, together with the opportunity to progress onto an advanced apprenticeship.
Busy Bees Childcare run special activities for apprentices to encourage further development and the chance to explore innovative ways of interacting with children. Staff competitions not only promote motivation and a determination to succeed, but also present a varied learning experience and help them discover new talents.
“By developing our own talent in-house, we have saved almost £2 million in recruitment costs. Our apprenticeship programme has helped reduce staff turnover from 48% to 36% in one year,” said Claire, marketing manager.
“I knew that a traineeship was the best way of developing my skills and experience, giving me a strong foundation of knowledge as I continue to build my career,” said trainee Dylis.
