Young Adult Learner Award Winners
This award recognises the achievements of outstanding young people (aged 18-25) who have, through learning, transformed their own lives and the lives of their families, friends, their communities, and the places they work.
Taylor found school difficult and gained very few GCSEs. Her experience of learning took a turn for the better when she joined Walsall College’s Achieving Together programme.
Just four years ago, Ahmed’s only qualifications were not recognised in the UK. He has now completed his HNC and promotes learning options to disengaged teenagers in Southampton.
Kieran found school life challenging. He achieved little academically and found it difficult to develop friendships. With support from Derwentside College, he is now a more confident man with a positive future ahead.
Michael was unemployed and experienced periods of depression and low self-esteem; he described himself as “lost”. However, one particular visit to the local job centre set him on a new path that completely changed his life.
