Tutor Award Winners
This award recognises inspirational tutors or trainers who have supported learners, in a range of contexts, to go on to lead successful and rewarding lives. The 2018 Tutor Award is sponsored by ETF.
Growing up, Sabeena was not encouraged to study, let alone think about teaching. When she graduated with a Law degree in 2011, she decided she wanted to teach students who may have faced similar challenges.
Christine already had a successful career in catering at North Staffordshire Combined Health Care NHS Trust. However, after being given the opportunity to become a support worker she started to realise her true calling was in teaching.
Jackie Bryant and Manda Lambert
Jackie and Manda teach Level 1 and 2 British Sign Language (BSL) at Cornwall College. Both are profoundly deaf, have full time jobs, and passionately engage their students without communication barriers.
Maria started teaching functional skills to apprentices at Greater Manchester Mental Health Hospital. Wanting to demonstrate that learning is for everyone, she now also leads courses for Recovery Academy service users with great success and passion.
