Social Impact Award Winners
This award celebrates the achievements of learners or tutors who have inspired others around them to embrace learning opportunities and achieve their potential. The 2016 Social Impact Award was sponsored by WEA.
Steve found himself homeless after leaving the Armed Forces. Supported back into learning by the YMCA, he became a qualified fitness instructor and has since accumulated over 4,000 hours of volunteering with them.
When David signed up for a gardening course, little did he know those initial 12 weeks would turn into years of learning, volunteering and peer mentoring.
Following redundancy, Ursula signed up for a class at Capel Manor College, beginning a floristry journey that would transform her into an empowered, enthusiastic and talented florist, teacher and social entrepreneur.
